Alemayehu Eshete

Activo desde los años 1960s
Inició su carrera cantando en amarico.
El talento de Eshete fue reconocido por el coronel Retta Dèmèqè quien invitó al joven cantante a trabajar con la famosa Orquesta de la Policia de Addis Abeba.
Su primer éxito fue “Seul” en 1961 antes de fundar la orquesta Alèm-Girma Band con Girma Bèyènè.
Entre 1969 y 1975 lanzó 103 singles y 12 álbums.
La llegada del régimen comunista de Derg obligó a Eshete, como a muchos otros artistas, al exilio en EU (mediados de los 1990s).
En 2008 recorrió Estados Unidos con Mahmoud Ahmed, respaldados en 10 canciones por la Boston’s 10-piece Either/Orchestra.
Ethiopiques 9 está dedicado por completo a las grabaciones de Eshete.
Ethiopiques 22 abarca su carrera entre 1972 y 1974.
Otras canciones también han aparecido en los volúmenes 3, 8, 10 y 13.
