Botswana



La música tradicional utiliza instrumentos de cuerda como la segaba o segankure (una cuerda)


y lamelófonos como el setinkane (mbira o karimba de Zimbabwe). Artistas locales como George Swabi y Kwata-E-Shele usan estos instrumentos.

Nombrar de música folk a Culture Spears, Dikakapa, George Swabi, Johnny Kobedi, Stikasola, Shumba Ratshega, Ratsie Setlhako, Machesa, Kwata-E-Shele, Matsieng, Shirley y Speech Madimabe.

La música moderna es muy popular con mucha influencia de Sudáfrica, USA y Europa.

Es un país de hip-hop. Introducido a finales de los 1980 cuajó en los 1990 básicamente por la influencia de Ndala DJ Sid Baitsile y David D-Ski Molosiwa.
DJ Sid es muy conocido por su influencia en el hip-hop con su grupo P-Side frente a otros artistas populares como Scar y Zeus.
Otro dúo, formado por David Draztik y Salim Slim Mosidinyane, promovieron el hip-hop por la radio con el grupo Cashless Society.

En la actualidad artistas hip-hop incluyen Scar, Zeus, Orakle, Apollo Diablo, BK Proctor, Third Mind, Stagga, Mister Doe, Mosako, Geto Flava y K-Bos.

El Kwaito, género originario de Johanesburgo, también está presente con grupos como Mapetla, Skazzo, Ghavorr, P-Mag, KIN, MMP, SEVEN ELEVEN.

La música Kwaito Kwasa es un producto genuino de Botswana, una fusión de los géneros importados Kwaito y Kwasa-Kwasa.
Vee es el creador de este género y algunos de los jóvenes se inspiran en él.
Kwasa-Kwasa se originó en África central y muy arraigada en la industria local. Es una versión de la rumba muy supeditada al movimiento erótico de caderas y vientre.
Los mejores artistas de Kwasa-Kwasa de Botswana, también muy conocidos en otros países africanos, son Frank Franco Lesokwane, Chris Manto 7, Les Africa Sounds y Jeff Matheatau.
El rock ha estado presente en Botswana durante bastante tiempo.
Se considera al grupo Nosey Road como el promotor  y destacan Wrust and Metal Orizon.
